You have a website – your have content – you have visitors… You also have dozens of spelling mistakes!! A visitor to your website will look at these spelling mistakes and automatically think sloppy and below par. As if this isn’t bad enough, Google also is looking at your spelling mistakes and giving you a slap on the legs!
Is your spelling up to scratch?
You might be stunned to see how many mistakes are found when just browsing through articles and websites and one, a particularly large client, had more than 200+ distributed across 20,000 pages.
You might think that the ratio there isn’t too bad but trust me, that is far too high! And this isn’t taking into account company or personal names! These are words checked against a dictionary to find those that are problematic.
This is where the big problems occur because you may or may not remember that Google Panda is also looking at website spelling as part of its ranking algorithm… Imagine there are two identical sites next to each other. Site one has the same content, but site two has 7 spelling mistakes out of 500 words. The result here is that you probably wouldn’t take too much notice of something written so pooorly – and this is exactly what Google are doing!

There are many resources to help you get on top of this problem. Just open Google and search for Free Website Spell Checker. Leave this one to chance at your own peril. If Google say make sure your content is spelt correctly, you have better make sure that this has been done!
