After having played around with Google+ this morning, it has become apparent that they have given their strategy some thought! Through Google’s recent flurry of activity and service launches, it seems like they might just have cracked it! Don’t blink incase you miss even more!
Keeping you signed in!
This is the golden nugget for Google – how to keep people signed into their accounts. Many don’t like Google accounts because they serve no purpose, but this is changing with the introduction of Google+. All of a sudden, there is a reason to stay signed in – otherwise, how are you going to get any status updates from anyone?
Its all about search results
Think back not too many months – your SEO was controlled by your content and back-links… but there have always been ways to ‘game’ these, which has been a constant headache for Google, so they need to do something more drastic that gives them even more targeted results. Along comes Panda to clear out the chaff, then closely followed was the Google +1 button – another way to show you like a page or article. At this time, google had already confirmed that they will be using results from these +1′s as a metric; and why not!
The problem that then arises is that not everyone has a Google account, so how is this going to help them?
Long has there been chat about Google offering something to rival Facebook, and finally it has turned up in the guise of Google+, which I have to say is very well polished, even though only in field trials right now.
So there we have it; the reason to stay logged in to Google allowing more personalised search results based on others’ +1 and shares.
Google most definitely are on to a winner now and it is 1,000 times better than Wave ever could be (or was). Is this finally something that could knock Facebook from their top spot whilst at the same time giving you more polished search results?
Only time will tell!
