After a long anticipated wait, the Google +1 button has finally been launched! So what impact is this going to have for social networks & SEO?

Not wishing to miss out on the social scene, Google have finally launched their long awaited ‘+1′ button. Announced some months back, this shows that the search giant is wanting to engage more heavily into Social Media, signifying that this could be playing a big part in future Search Engine Optimisation plans.

Many signed up for notifications of when this goes live and last night e-mails were being sent out to advise of where the code could be taken from.

Google have said that the +1 button is a vote for a site or article that is ‘cool’ or that should be ‘checked out’.

Whilst currently only available in English, over the coming months this will be rollout out across the rest of the globe. Friends, followers and other web users will be able to quickly see what sites are worthy of recommendation.

What impact does this have on SEO?

If nothing else, it shows that you should be heavily involved in Social SEO as this is going to be playing a huge part in the future of search. An easy to use website complete with engaging unique content is shaping the way.
