A competent Technical Writer is one who is able to understand what is required, take non-technical documents from clients and draw up complete technical content.
This is sometimes easier said than done and why your choice of technical writer is important.
Technical Writing Stages
–The initial stage for any technical writing is to read and understand a brief from the client. This might not be a technical document, but is essential to understand the product or service.
– After this stage, and assuming the initial document was not of a technical nature, it is important to have access to technical specifications on the subject matter.
– An understanding of the target audience is then required as this will determine the technical level that the document will be written to.
– An initial summary draft will then be produced by us that will cover headline points without going into too much detail.
– Once approved by the client, a pre-publication document shall be produced that will cover all technical aspects required.
– Finally, upon pre-publication approval, the final technical document shall be completed.
